what to do and where to go
when you need help
As Lenore put the finishing touches on the Washington, D.C. Read Project, she thought back to how she got involved with this charity. Her professional success hinged on her love of reading as a child. Stories of faraway places had transported her from the cramped, noisy trailer where she grew up; stories of family and love replaced the reality of her bickering parents; and biographies of important people taught her that the world was bigger than the tiny town where she lived until college. It seemed right to give back, and Lenore was delighted her whole team felt the same way. Well, almost the whole team. A couple of people balked because they objected to the religious bent of the group that supported the Washington, D.C. Read Project, and they complained that many of the books provided to the children took a definite religious point of view. Well, she only encouraged—never forced—her team members to get involved. And anyway, Lenore thought, anyone who didn’t support the project wasn’t a real team player.
> Our Commitment
Our business operations span the globe. We will make every effort to improve the communities in which we work or leave our footprint.
> Political and Charitable Contributions and Service
All employees are free to support charitable and political organizations and other causes. However, in doing so, you may not represent your views and actions as those of Heidrick & Struggles. You may also not attempt to coerce another person at Heidrick & Struggles into supporting or contributing to a political, religious or charitable cause against their will.

We respect the right of each of our employees to participate in the political process and to engage in political activities of his or her choosing. While involved in their personal civic and political affairs, however, employees must at all times make clear that their views and actions are their own, and not those of the company. Employees also may not use company resources to support their choice of political parties, causes or candidates. For specific guidelines on charitable contributions and service, please refer to the Corporate Giving site on the Heidrick & Struggles Intranet.
> Global Relations
Our objective is to be non-political and a good corporate citizen wherever we operate. We recognize the importance of the public’s trust in us and look to serve our clients in a manner consistent with the public interest, taking into consideration the differing legal requirements and contexts that exist in different countries.
